Number of images
.... down the bottom right you will be able to select between 1 and 10 images per row.
This you may have to play around with once the gallery has been inserted. Using thumbnail size of 75 or 100 pixels wide, do not choose more than 3 images to begin with for the Vertical Layout or 4 for the Horizontal Layout. Once the gallery is on your page, you can always go back and change that number. Selecting the number of images is not available for either the Montage or Slide Show layout, and this option will be greyed out for those layouts - the number can be altered during customisation for the Montage, but not Slide Show. Do not click on the OK button, either in the picture or layout view, until you have completed your gallery. When you have finished, the Wizard should look something like this:
By clicking on the name of an image, and using the "move up" or "move down" buttons, you can change the order in which your thumbnails appear. Now click on the OK button. A small screen will come up showing that Front Page is making the thumbnails of your larger images, this takes just a few seconds. Once completed, the Wizard will close and you will see your gallery on the page. Save the page - until you do, none of the thumbnails etc will be permanently saved into your web. If at this stage, you realise you have done something wrong, or need to add or remove an image etc, then in normal view, either double click anywhere within the gallery and the Wizard will open up again for you, or right click on the gallery and select "Photo Gallery Properties" from the context menu. Clicking on the gallery will produce a "negative" type image as the whole gallery is highlighted - as seen below.
While the gallery is highlighted you can align it to center, left or right by clicking on the relavant icon on top tool bar.
The only customisation you can do from the Wizard itself is adding or removing images or text, or changing the layout, size of images or formatting text. If you wish to customise the way the text is laid out, or anything else, then you will have to follow my customisation instructions. Please now check out the section on Folders - these are the folders and pages that Front Page creates for your gallery. You need to be able to recognise them and their content, so you don't accidentally go and delete any of them.
