New Publishing Interface
You can now see a list of files on the remote server at the
same time as the files on your hard-drive. You can select
individual files to be published or not published. All the
usual publishing options are available from the interface. You
can delete files from server from the split pane interface.
Custom Link Bars
Link bars can be placed anywhere within your site and permits
you to link to pages on or off your site. Can be placed in
shared borders. The custom link bar can be customised and does
not depend on the navigation structure.
Shared Border Background Properties
The background properties of shared borders can be changed.
Navigation Pane View - Although
FrontPage Server Extensions are not required on local drive
during development, they are required on the server at browse
time for navigation bar support.
While still in Page view, you can display your site navigation
structure instead of the usual Folder list.
Multiple Navigation Structures
This feature allows you to create multiple navigation
structures for your Web.
Field Set
The Field Set element allows authors to group thematically
related controls and labels. Grouping controls makes it easier
for users to understand the purpose of the controls. At the
same time, the grouping of controls facilitates tabbing
navigation for visual user agents and facilitates speech
navigation for speech-oriented user agents. The correct use of
this element makes documents more accessible.
Lists

Team Services components.
Using SharePoint Team Services, you can host and create your
own customized lists, or you can select from a wide range of
list templates, such as announcements, events, tasks and
contacts.
Discussion Boards
requires
SharePoint Team Services components
This is not the same as the Discussion Web Wizard. With this
feature you can get the whole team together on a discussion
topic. Create a newsgroup-style discussion board and invited
members can add their information.
Surveys
requires SharePoint
Team Services components
Create online surveys that can then graphically display the
results.
Usage Analysis Reports
Accesses the server logs for your web site. The server logs
track how the user reached your site, the word searches that
were used, pages that were requested, browser and operating
system and other user information.
Top 10 Lists
This works with the usage-reporting. It allows you to
implement a list of the top 10 most requested pages on your
web. Can be displayed in a variety of ways.
File Upload
Allows files to be uploaded to your web server, from a web
browser (IE 4+ and NS 2+).
Security
You can now grant or deny access to users and groups through a
"role-based" security model. There is now more control over
who accesses the content of your site.

Extensions
Single Page Publishing
This feature allows you to publish only the content that you
want.
Publishing Log File
This file keeps track of all your publishing activities. The
log files are kept in the FrontPageTemp directory.
Background Publishing
During the publish process you can continue to work on your
site.
Page Tabs
Each open page will display a tab at the top making it easy to
switch between pages.
Table AutoFormat
Several pre-formatted table layouts are available to help you
create professional looking tables.
Optional Hyperlink Underline
To remove the underline from a hyperlink, just select the link
and then click on the Underline (U) on the formatting
toolbar.
Border Button
As with Word and Excel you can now give borders to your cells.
Click the Borders button on the formatting toolbar. If the
Borders button is not visible - click the Toolbar Options
arrow - hover over Add or Remove Buttons - then point to
Formatting, on the list that appears, click Borders.
Office Clipboard
You can cut or copy content from other Office programs and
quickly paste it into your web page. The Office clipboard
visually stores the content on the task pane.
Photo Gallery
Quick and easy way to produce a Photo Gallery of your images.
The thumbnails get automatically made for you. You can add
captions, switch between layouts.
Cross-Browser Enhanced Drawing Tools
These are enhanced drawing tools such as AutoShapes, WordArt,
and Drawing Canvas.
Paste the Way That You Want
You now have the choice of preserving the formatting of
content that was copied from other Office programs onto your
FrontPage Web page.
Save All
All currently open documents can be saved at one time.
Advanced Form Button
You can now type text directly onto the button and select
custom width and height. Color and style of font can be
selected as well as inserting images on the button.
Insert Hyperlink
The Insert Hyperlink dialog box is now further integrated with
Microsoft Office. It contains numerous enhancements, such as
recent files, browsed pages, create new document, and e-mail
address (which also allows you to specify a subject line).
However, if you have copied a URL, you now have to use Ctrl+V
to paste into the hyperlink text area.
Fill Right and Fill Down
This feature allows you to quickly copy content from one table
cell to several others.
Inline Frames
Similar to frames pages, except that the inline frame, and its
contents are embedded on an existing web page. Inline frames
can contain exactly the same type of content as an ordinary
web page.
Database Interface Wizard
You can create an interface with your database that allows you
to modify, add and delete records. Administrator password can
be assigned to the pages.
Updated Media Gallery
Used to be called the Clip Gallery. Now contains hundreds of
new clips, easy task pane interface and the ability to
organise clips and find new digital art on the web.

you can easily build a catalog of items to sell online.
Automatic Live Content
You can add live content from third-party providers such as
MSNBC headlines and weather forecasts, MSN Web search and
stock quotes, bCentral Banner Ad and Fast Counter, Expedia
maps, and more.
Handwriting Recognition
This feature is available in the Simplified Chinese,
Traditional Chinese, English (U.S.), Japanese, and Korean
language versions of Microsoft Office.
Speech Recognition
This feature is available in the Simplified Chinese, English
(U.S.), and Japanese language versions of Microsoft Office. It
includes two modes: Dictation mode and Voice Command mode.
Language-Specific Features
To turn on the language-specific features, the Microsoft
Office XP Multilingual User Interface Pack or the Microsoft
Office XP Proofing Tools for the specific language must be
installed on your computer.
More Supported Languages:
FrontPage 2002 now supports 26 languages.
Unicode Support:
Allows you to
create and edit Web pages in all of the languages that are
installed on your computer's Microsoft Windows operating
system. This means that you can purchase FrontPage in a
specific language, but author content in virtually any
language.
International Support: Allows you
to work with team members who are all over the world, and in
the languages that you want.
XML Formatting Rules
The rules that govern the syntax of XML tags are stricter than
those for HTML. A missing tag or incorrectly formatted
attribute in an XML document renders the file useless.
When you select the Apply XML formatting rules option,
FrontPage 2002 searches the XML code for missing or incomplete
tags and applies the correct tags.
