To find and replace on selected pages
- You do not have to have any pages open.
- Click on View/Folder List.

-
Or click on the arrow on the Toggle Pane
icon and select Folder List

- Hold down the Ctrl key and left click with
the mouse on each file you wish to be included in the Find
and Replace. The files will be highlighted.

- Click on Edit/Replace from the main toolbar.
- The main dialog box will open. In the Find what
box, type in the word or phrase you want to find
NOTE: You cannot search for phrases that contain line
returns. All words must be contained on one line.
- And put the replacement text in the Replace with
box.
- Under Search Options, make sure Selected Page(s)
is checked.
- The Direction Box will be greyed out.
- The next section - click Match case if upper or
lower case is important. The next box Find whole word
only - again check that if required .... if unchecked
FrontPage will find all instances of what you typed in the
Find box, even if forming part of a word. If you are wanting
to find something in the HTML, then check that box.

- Then click on either Replace All
(will find and replace all instances in all
the selected pages) or Find In Web (will find all
instances in the selected pages - the text will not
get replaced until you then instruct FrontPage to do so).
-
Below shows how when clicking on Find in
Web, FrontPage lists the pages where the text was found.
In this case only one of the pages selected contained the
word searched for - the Count shows that only one
instance was found in that page. The red circle under
Status shows that the text has not been replaced yet.
Double-clicking on the page, will open up that page - if you
wish to see it prior to FrontPage replacing the text.

-
If you are happy with the pages shown, then
click on Replace All and FrontPage will replace them
and the red circle will change to a yellow circle
showing that the page(s) have been edited.
