Find & Replace
|
 |
|
Tips |
-
No line spaces - You can search
for text or code from HTML view - but it must all be on one
line. If you are wanting to replace text/code that goes over
more than one line, you will have to do it line by line.
-
Deleting text -
insert the text you want deleted into the Find what box,
then leave the Replace with box empty ..... your text
will now be replaced - with nothing!
-
Adding Meta tags -
if you want to add certain meta tags throughout your website,
or on selected pages - or indeed any text or code, you can use
the Find and Replace. In HTML view you will have the following
line in between the <head> and </head> tags.

-
Highlight that line, then click on
Edit/Replace - the dialog box will open up with the
highlighted phrase already inserted for you.

-
In the Replace with box, copy and paste
that meta tag. Then add the new meta tag you want on your page
directly after it - as shown below.

-
Follow the instructions for replacing text in
the whole web, and your new meta tag will now be added to every
page. You could just put the end part of the meta tag in the
Find box, say just FrontPage 5.0"> as long as you are
sure those words do not appear elsewhere in your pages, which
is unlikely in the example I have given, but just make sure if
you are wanting to insert anything into your pages using the
Find/Replace method that you put into the Find box enough
characters/words that FP will not find them somewhere else that
you had forgotten about, and did not want to be changed. Once
you use the Find/Replace you cannot undo it by hitting the undo
button!!
